The Dallas Cowboys had an enticing opportunity to kick-start their 2025 campaign into high gear with a win over the Carolina Panthers. A victory on Sunday would have started a winning streak and created true momentum heading into next Sunday’s bout with the Washington Commanders.
Alas, none of that happened. The Cowboys defense flatlined once again and Rico Dowdle apparently caught them not buckled up. All the goodwill that came out of the New York Jets game that looked like a team starting to come together was blown apart by a late loss to the Panthers.
Now the Cowboys go back home to host an NFC division rival in the Commanders. Washington sits at 3-2 on the year and has a game tonight versus the Chicago Bears, another team that embarrassed the Cowboys earlier this season. If we project a Commanders’ win at home tonight, they will be 4-2 coming in to play a 2-3-1 Cowboys team.
As of right now, the Cowboys are 2.5-point underdogs for Sunday according to FanDuel. Given the Cowboys are at home for that game, Washington is getting treated like a true favorite. But just like the Panthers on Sunday, who were similar underdogs to Dallas, maybe the Cowboys can pull off the upset.
What’s your call BTB? Is the line of 2.5-point underdogs about right?
