Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens is going to have to wait a little bit longer to get paid.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has had a lot of success since being traded to the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason. However, the team is not focused on locking him up for the long term quite yet.
According to insider Ed Werder, the Cowboys have not engaged in contract extension talks with Pickens or his representatives with a week remaining before the NFL trade deadline.

Pickens, 24, is on an expiring contract as he is in the final year of his rookie deal and is on pace to have the best season of his young NFL career.
Through the first eight weeks of the season, Pickens has racked up 43 catches for 685 yards and an already career-high six touchdowns.
It’s unclear why Dallas doesn’t want to lock up its new weapon, but Pickens did have some on- and off-the-field issues during his time with the Steelers. Those issues haven’t arose with the Cowboys yet, but they may want a bigger sample size before committing big money to him.
Pickens began his professional career as a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by Pittsburgh and he immediately showcased why many had him projected as a first-round talent, reeling in 52 receptions for 801 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie.
He had his first 1,000-yard receiving season the following year, recording career-high marks in catches (63) and yards (1,140). Pickens seems to be on track to easily surpass those numbers this season with the Cowboys, though.
A native of Hoover, Alabama, Pickens has 217 catches for 3,526 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career.
