2026 free agent class at CB
Trevon Diggs is no longer on the roster and DaRon Bland is rehabbing from a serious foot injury. What was once viewed as a massive strength just 12 months ago, is now a serious concern. The Cowboys hope they found a long-term solution in 2025 third-round pick Shavon Revel, but he had a tough rookie season that inspires more doubt than confidence.
Players like Reddy Steward, Caelen Carson and Josh Butler are decent depth pieces, but no one wants to roll into 2026 with any of them penciled in as starters. Free agents Tariq Woolen (26), Jamel Dean (29), Eric Stokes (26), Greg Newsome (25), Roger McCreary (25), Alontae Taylor (27) and Cam Taylor-Britt (26) all look to cash in on major contracts this spring. Oddly enough, the CB who’s projected to command the most per Spotrac estimates is former Cowboys CB Nahshon Wright.

New Cowboys DC Christian Parker seems like he wants to put together his own staff
Letting Parker and Brian Schottenheimer (mostly Parker) put together his own staff is unequivocally the right call.
It would be a different story if even one assistant had exceeded expectations this season and players were lobbying for them to return, but that wasn’t the case. Not a single position group punched above its weight class. Defensive back, linebacker, defensive line. You name it. Every unit struggled.
Fortunately for Parker, some assistants have gotten a head start with seeking other opportunities.
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Titans have requested an interview with Cowboys defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton for their DC vacancy. That isn’t entirely surprising, as Whitecotton and newly minted Titans head coach Robert Saleh have coached together at three different stops.
Time for Christian Parker to get his guys.
The Cowboys haven’t lacked talent on defense, but they have lacked unpredictability. Everything in 2025 looked the same before the snap, and offenses have known exactly where to go with the ball.
Parker’s background suggests that’s not how he wants to run a defense. His approach leans toward more movement, disguise, and putting more on the safeties to read what’s developing instead of just sitting.
