Inside The Star
A surprising defender that has been very solid for the Dallas Cowboys this season is Jadeveon Clowney.
He is set to be a free agent this offseason, and the Dallas Cowboys should make it a priority to bring him back.
He made his debut for Dallas in week 4 as they signed him off the couch, but once he settled in he was one of the few bright spots for the worst defense in football.
Last week, Cloweny was asked if he wanted to still play in 2026 and his answer was pretty blunt.
“I got a lot left in the tank. I ain’t gonna go sit on my couch,” Clowney continued. “I’m gonna stay ready. Maybe sign a little bit earlier, and I’m trying to go to camp next year so I can get the rust off me and get going. I’m looking forward to it.”
The pass rush of the Dallas Cowboys is clearly an issue, we see it every single week. Heck, everything about the defense is a problem outside probably the defensive tackles going into 2026.
I think a full offseason if resigned would be huge for Dallas and then honestly, they can use those two first round picks on something other than an edge rusher.
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on @1053thefan said they "absolutely" want DE Jadeveon Clowney back next season: "He's played at a very high level. … We'll be talking with his guys right away. … Hopefully with his willingness to want to be here and us wanting him to be here,…

They could still do that, but they wouldn’t feel the pressure to use it on that spot.
He is not going to put up Micah Parsons numbers, but the former 1st overall pick of the 2014 NFL draft currently has 5.5 sacks with one week left, and he did not even start the year until week 4!
He is good enough with some added depth to be your pass rusher if you add the right guys around him.
I also think they should sign Javonte Williams and a few other guys, but Cloweny needs to be one of the big priority signings on defense if this team wants to be able to compete with how bad this defense is.
I expect a lot of changes on the way, including adding a new defensive coordinator, but this team will need some players, and if they let Clowney walk, I think it will be a mistake.
Jerry Jones always says changes are coming, and he never does anything, and here we go again. I just don’t see how he is not tired of watching a defense be the worst in the history of the game take the field every single week.
If he brings Eberflus back, I am going to give up all hope.
