A huge trade rumor claims the Dallas Cowboys are trying to make a blockbuster move for one of the top pass rushers in the NFL.

On Sunday, Dallas scored a big 44-22 win over division rivals the Washington Commanders. The victory got their record even at 3-3-1 and once again showed why they have one of the best offenses in the NFL right now. However, their defense remains one of the worst in the game. They allow the most passing yards and the third most points in the league.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter claimed Dallas was actively looking to make a trade to improve the defense. Well, it looks like we have some clarity on what player they are looking for, and it’s a four-time Pro Bowler.

“According to sources, the Dallas Cowboys have made inquiries with the Raiders about a potential trade for Maxx Crosby,” popular NFL analyst Trey Wingo alleged.

Before the 2025 NFL season, Crosby signed a new three-year extension worth $106 million with the Las Vegas Raiders. It means he is locked in until 2029 at a reasonable rate for a top-end pass rusher. Meaning the cost for Dallas will be very high in a potential trade.

What will a Maxx Crosby trade cost the Dallas Cowboys?

The Raiders dropped to 2-5 after another loss in Week 7 and should be in sell mode. While Crosby is one of the team’s top players, Las Vegas needs a lot to get the roster back to respectability and could use a boatload of draft picks. Something Crosby could get them in a trade.

  • Maxx Crosby stats: 28 tackles, 4 sacks, 9 QB hits, 1 INT, 1 forced fumble, 5 passes defended

In the trade for Micah Parsons a couple of months ago, the Cowboys got two future first-round picks (2026 and 2027) from the Green Bay Packers. While Crosby is a gifted pass rusher, he isn’t as good as Parsons, so both of those picks won’t be flipped to the Raiders.

However, a deal including the 2026 first rounder, a third and fifth rounder the same year, and a fourth rounder in 2027 may be enough to bring the gifted pass rusher to Big D this season, and for the next four.
