The NFL has issued a three-game suspension to Cowboys defensive end Charles Snowden for a personal conduct violation stemming from a previous DUI, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Snowden, 28, was arrested in Nevada in 2024 while a member of the Raiders. He pled no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge in January (via ESPN), resulting in the NFL’s standard punishment for such offenses. Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison and 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson also received three-game suspensions for similar infractions in recent years.

Snowden will be permitted to participate in all training camp and preseason activities with the Cowboys. His suspension will take effect when teams cut their rosters down to 53 players, at which time he will be moved to the reserve/suspended list.

Dallas signed Snowden to a two-year, $2.27MM deal this offseason to compete for a backend roster spot in Christian Parker‘s new-look defense. He faces an uphill battle against a deep stable of edge rushers in which the Cowboys invested heavily this offseason. They signed former Packer Rashan Gary to a two-year, $32MM deal in free agency and spent first- and third-round picks on UCF’s Malachi Lawrence and Michigan’s Jaishawn Barham in April’s draft. They will join a returning trio of Sam Williams, Donovan Ezeiruaku, and James Houston, who all appeared in every game last year with a combined 1,385 snaps.

Snowden would likely need to displace Houston, who racked up 5.5 sacks and six tackles for loss in 2025 despite playing just 307 snaps. Snowden, meanwhile, put up three sacks and five tackles for loss across 324 snaps in 15 appearances (nine starts). However, he saw more snaps dropping back in coverage (76) than rushing the passer (52), per Pro Football Focus (subscription required), with a 21.1% pressure rate in the latter role. He also posted a 7.7% pass rush win rate and a 72.3 coverage grade, both career-highs, indicating that he could find a role in Parker’s hybrid scheme.
