Dak Prescott is looking forward to what the Dallas Cowboys defense has in store for the upcoming 2026 NFL season.
Prescott is preparing for Year 11 of his career with the Cowboys. He stands out as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, especially when injuries do not put him on the sidelines.
Despite being absent from the playoffs for two consecutive seasons, Prescott hasn’t let that discourage him or regress his level of play. Yearning to get back to playoff action and compete for a Super Bowl title, he is waiting in anticipation for the 2026 campaign to begin.
Prescott spoke with the media during Thursday’s session, via reporter Joseph Hoyt. He commented on how the defense, which struggled against opponents last season, has significantly improved with its level of aggression and trash talk.
“Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has heard the warnings from his teammates. Some might even perceive it as a threat of some sort. Prescott said Cowboys defenders have told him that things won’t be as easy as they were in training camp in previous years, especially when the pads come on, and the pass rush is set free in Oxnard,” Hoyt wrote.
“That trash-talking or fire-starting is awesome,” said Prescott, a known trash-talker himself.
Dak Prescott, having performed highly well in 2025, looks forward to bringing that momentum over to 2026 for the Cowboys.
Prescott returned to superstar form after going through injuries in 2024, starting in all 17 games in 2025. He completed 404 passes for 4,552 yards and 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The star quarterback did this while recording 53 rushes for 177 yards and two touchdowns.
The Cowboys will attempt to improve on their 7-9-1 record from the 2025 season. They also intend to return to the playoffs, while competing for their first Super Bowl appearance since the 1990s.
Dallas has three preseason games against Seattle, Arizona and New Orleans on Aug. 15, Aug. 22 and Aug. 28. After that, they gear up for Week 1 against the New York Giants on Sept. 13 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
