The Dallas Cowboys are officially in the offseason, and one of their top defensive players will be going under the knife. Cornerback DaRon Bland is set to have foot surgery next week, but he expects to be healthy for the Cowboys’ offseason program.

Bland put NFL on notice as a rookie in 2022. He led the team with five interceptions that season. A year later, he was the league’s top ball hawk as he led all defenders with nine interceptions and set an NFL record with five touchdown returns, which led to first-team All-Pro honors. In 2024, things begin to get troublesome for Bland.

He started the season on injured reserve due to suffering a stress fracture in his foot and missed 10 games as a result. Despite this, the Cowboys sign him to a four-year, $92 million extension last August. Bland played in 12 games in 2025, but he dealt with foot issues again as he was placed on season-ending injured reserve in December.

Since signing his deal, Bland has played in just 19 out of a possible 34 games. That’s certainly not ideal for a player with his price or skill set. Hopefully, he will be ready for the offseason program like he expects to. Regardless, 2026 is a very big year for Bland in terms of his future with the Cowboys.
