Cowboys called Jets with Micah Parsons trade offer

Perhaps the biggest story out of NFL training camps was the breakdown in contract negotiations between the Dallas Cowboys and their now former all pro edge rusher Micah Parsons. This ended with a trade to the Green Packers, who seem to be reaping the rewards of acquiring the man who is perhaps the best defensive player in the NFL.

Before that happened, Parsons was apparently offered to the New York Jets. And I say “apparently” very loosely as the source is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys himself, Jerry Jones.

Now Jones wasn’t just giving Parsons away. Rather, the ask was All Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and some very valuable first round picks (perhaps extra valuable given the Jets current record and last decade of struggles). Clearly the Jets thought this price was too steep for the team to pay and I can’t say that I disagree given that the team seems to be in a rebuild. On the other hand, Parsons might just be the kind of player who renders a rebuild over with how he can take over a game.

We know what the Jets think, but what do you think? Is this a trade they should have considered?
