The kickoff of the 2025 NFL Draft is just a week away.
Just a little over a week stands between the Dallas Cowboys and the start of the 2025 NFL Draft. This year’s draft will be highly impactful to both the short- and long-term future of the franchise.
The Cowboys need to supplement their free agency by coming away from this draft with multiple impactful players. With the draft in mind, today, three of our writers answer some questions and give their insight on how the Cowboys may approach this year’s draft.

What I want is a trade down, but that is sounding unlikely. In terms of guys that might get picked, I’ll be pretty happy with most of the usual suspects, unless the pick is a running back. If I had to bet on it, I’d say Tetairoa McMillan seems like the pick at this point, which I’d be ecstatic about. I also really like Michigan CB Will Johnson and Texas A&M EDGE Shemar Stewart
Brian Martin
My gut feeling tells me the Cowboys have their eye on one of the top EDGE players at No. 12, either Shemar Stewart and Mykel Williams. I’m personally hoping either Will Campbell or Armand Membou are still available there. If not, Tetairoa McMillan would be my choice.
Matt Holleran
For me, it comes down to two wide receivers at pick 12. I think Dallas will have the choice of Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan or Texas’ Matthew Golden. Ultimately, I think the Cowboys will select McMillan, which would be an excellent selection. Personally, I think Golden would be the better pick and fit for the offense, but both players are very talented and have great potential.

I think it really depends on how things fall in the first round. The Cowboys seem to understand they need a WR in this draft, so if they don’t get one on the first day, they pretty much have to take one in the second round to ensure they get someone that can make a difference in 2025
Brian Martin
I think they could actually break that trend this year. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Cowboys went with a combination of WR/RB with their first two picks or maybe some kind of combo of CB/DE.
Matt Holleran
I see that trend continuing this year. It seems certain the Cowboys will draft a CB, EDGE, or WR with their first-round pick. If the first-round pick is spent on one of the defensive positions, you can almost guarantee Dallas will select a wide receiver with their second-round selection.
