The Denver Broncos are looking to continue their consistency on offense, and they’re doing that by locking up one of their key wide receivers to an extension, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“The Broncos and WR Courtland Sutton have agreed to terms on a four-year, $92 extension, sources tell The Insiders. Entering the final year of his contract, Sutton reported on time to camp and now has his new deal, which was negotiated by @milkhoneysport,” Pelissero wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Earlier in the offseason, Sutton was confident that a deal would get done between him and the Broncos.
“My team has had a really good conversation with the guys up there in the front office, and I think it’s working in the right direction,” Sutton said to The Denver Post. “Ultimately, you just want to know you’re working in the right direction. I think they see and have seen what I’ve brought to the team. I’m open and optimistic about the fact that I’ll be able to be here for the rest of my career.”
Sutton had a career-high in receptions last season and finished with 1,081 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He had a great connection with Bo Nix, and it looks like it will only get stronger. At some point, Sutton is hoping to have the same kind of connection as Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams had in Green Bay.
“I think it’s only continuing to keep growing,’’ Sutton said via Chris Thomasson of the Denver Gazette. “I think that you look at some of these quarterbacks that have these dynamic duos with certain receivers, I think that they have some success early on but you look at Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers when they were in Green Bay, they got to spend a lot of years together before everyone started seeing that connection of being almost unstoppable when they lined up.”
The Broncos made a lot of strides last season and were able to make the playoffs. If they continue to build on that success, they could be a team to look out for years to come.
