Lee Roy Jordan played linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys from 1963 to 1976, becoming the heart and soul of the team’s defense for over a decade. Drafted in the first round out of Alabama, Jordan was known for his intelligence, leadership, and sure tackling. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All-Pro. Jordan played in three Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl VI, and was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor in 1989.

Best known for:
Jordan was best known for being the field general of the Doomsday Defense, directing traffic from the middle linebacker position and setting the tone with his toughness and instincts.

Lesser known fact:
In a 1971 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jordan recorded three interceptions in a single quarter, returning one for a touchdown. An extraordinary feat for a linebacker and a highlight of his ball-hawking ability.
