Mel Renfro played defensive back for the Dallas Cowboys from 1964 to 1977, becoming one of the most versatile and accomplished players in team history. Originally drafted as a running back out of Oregon, Renfro quickly transitioned to defense, where his speed and instincts made him a standout at both cornerback and safety. Over his 14-year career, he earned an incredible 10 Pro Bowl selections, was named All-Pro four times, and helped lead the Cowboys to victories in Super Bowls VI and XII. Renfro was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996.

Renfro was best known for his versatility and ball-hawking ability, excelling at both safety and cornerback while ranking among the franchise leaders in interceptions.
Lesser known fact:
In addition to football, Renfro was also a track star at Oregon, excelling in hurdles and long jump, and his world-class speed became a trademark of his success in the NFL.
