The Bills have the Steelers on their schedule this fall — and Pittsburgh will host NFL’s first regular-season game in Ireland later this year
As part of the NFL’s ongoing effort to grow the game internationally, the league is taking another big step in its global expansion, announcing that it will play its first-ever regular-season game in Dublin, Ireland, in 2025. The league also announced that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been selected as the home team.
For Steelers fans, the game carries extra meaning. The Steelers’ owner, Art Rooney II, has been a longtime supporter of bringing the NFL to Ireland. Pittsburgh actually played a preseason game in Dublin back in 1997, but this will be the first time a regular-season contest will be held there.
While the opponent has yet to be confirmed, it’s always fun to speculate whether the Buffalo Bills could get the nod. The Bills are already set to play a road game against the Steelers in 2025, making them one of nine potential teams to make the trip across the pond.
The Cleveland Browns have already been slated to host a game in London, England. While the Miami Dolphins have been selected as the home team in Madrid, Spain, and the Indianapolis Colts have been selected to host a game in Berlin, Germany making these three teams unlikely to be the away team against the Steelers in Dublin.
The remaining options would be the Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Seattle Seahawks.
With details still unfolding, one thing is certain: the NFL’s first trip to Dublin will be a destination fans should be excited about.
