Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s that the Black and Gold have reportedly asked about trading for Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in a precedent-breaking bombshell trade.
The news comes from former FSN Pittsburgh host Ryan Burr, who broke the story on Thursday. It makes sense for Pittsburgh general manager Omar Khan to have asked around, with a lack of obvious upgrades at the quarterback position available to them this offseason.
But between the fact that the Jaguars do not even currently have a general manager, Lawrence has a no-trade clause, and he has more than $100 million remaining in guarantees despite putting up worse numbers in 2024 than Russell Wilson, this all seems a bit far-fetched.
Alan breaks it down.
