The Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback room is set in stone heading into training camp, which starts at St. Vincent College in July.

Or is it?

With former Cincinnati signal-caller Brendan Sorsby having applied to the 2026 NFL Supplemental Draft, another capable young passer is available for Mike McCarthy, who has Aaron Rodgers this upcoming season, but isn’t certain of who the four-time Associated Press NFL MVP’s successor will be.

The 33rd Team’s Steve Palazzolo was asked Friday if there could be an argument made for the Steelers to “punt on” Drew Allar, a Penn State product and third-round choice in April’s 2026 NFL Draft, in favor of adding Sorsby. Sorsby had transferred to Texas Tech, but became embroiled in a sports betting scandal and turned his attention to the next level.

“I don’t think it’s crazy,” Palazzolo said during an appearance on 93.7 The Fan. “I think we should all be creative in how we find the next quarterback, and that could involve drafting a big-armed quarterback like Drew Allar, stripping him down and building him back up again over two years and taking your time to do that. And if you think that Sorsby — all of a sudden — ‘Hey, he’s a faster version of Allar and maybe a better football player right now with 80%, 90% of his arm.’ And you say, ‘That’s a better guy for us.’ … I don’t think that’s crazy.”

In that case, Palazzolo added, he feels the Steelers would need to find someone to give up a fourth-round pick for Allar, taking away the sting of giving up something like a third.

Ultimately, Palazzolo predicted Sorsby will be worth “a third or fourth” and land with the Arizona Cardinals, who also took a signal-caller in the third round of April’s selection process, Carson Beck.
