It’s remarkable that the San Francisco 49ers are having the type of season they’re having, considering all the factors working against them.

The team finished in third place in the NFC West, but they were 12-5 in a division that was top-heavy. On Sunday, the team will be on the road at Lincoln Financial Field, taking on the Eagles. That will be the best place for them to play in the Wild Card round, just based on new information.

On social media, a highly uncomfortable theory is circulating. Peter Cowan has recently suggested that electromagnetic fields may be affecting the health of San Francisco 49ers players.

George Kittle and wide receiver Jauan Jennings were injured in the season opener. Kittle was also placed on the injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury. Nick Bosa suffered a season-ending torn ACL, and Fred Warner snapped his leg.

Many of these injuries, as well as some that occurred in years past, have happened inside Levi’s Stadium. That is the same place where Super Bowl LX will be held.

Levi’s Stadium’s Location Might Be A Problem For The San Francisco 49ers

Peter Cowan’s reporting reveals that injuries are being caused by Chronic electromagnetic field exposure. It originates from a massive electrical substation situated directly adjacent to the team’s practice facility.

He believes that it might be systematically weakening players’ tendons and connective tissue.

Posting on X, Cowan laid out the reasoning.

“Low-frequency electromagnetic fields can degrade collagen, weaken tendons, and cause soft-tissue damage at levels regulators call ‘safe, ‘” Cowan wrote.

“We have a real-world case study proving this: an NFL team whose practice facility sits next to a massive electrical substation.”

Cowan said, “The San Francisco 49ers are statistically the most injured team in the NFL over the past decade.”

“Since moving to Levi’s Stadium in 2014, they are the top-5 in Adjusted Games Lost for 10 of 11 seasons.”

“Chronic ELF exposure is degrading the collagen integrity in the players’ tendons, ligaments, and muscle-tendon junctions. The damage is subtle, until a routine cut or block ends in catastrophic rupture. The injury pattern matches the biological fingerprint of prolonged ELF exposure documented in peer-reviewed research.”

He even reinforced his argument by visiting the San Francisco 49ers’ practice facility and conducting measurements using a Gaussmeter. Cowan claimed the readings were higher than normal.

None of the usual explanations (turf, scheme, bad luck) hold up. Only one variable is unique, and the players know it in their guts. In early 2025, retired guard Jon Feliciano let it slip:

"Players have joked around about there being an...
