The Kansas City Chiefs were beaten soundly by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59. Patrick Mahomes and Co. fell behind 40-6 before tacking on a pair of late scores to make the 18-point loss appear more respectable.
It was the worst defeat of the signal caller’s season. Mahomes was bothered by the Eagles‘ pass rush throughout the night. The pressure forced him into bad decisions that ultimately proved costly.
A pick six in the second quarter put Philadelphia up 24-0 before halftime. It was one of two interceptions Mahomes would throw on the night.

In both instances, the signal caller was bothered in the pocket. Interestingly enough, the Eagles didn’t need to bring extra pressure to get to Mahomes. They didn’t blitz a single time in the win. Still, they harassed the passer frequently, racking up six sacks.
On one of his first quarter drop backs, Mahomes was brought to the ground just as he released the football. He appeared to hit his head on the playing surface, leading some to speculate of a concussion.

Patrick Mahomes played the worst game of the year in Super Bowl 59. He had just 148 yards late in the fourth quarter before adding 109 in garbage time on two meaningless touchdown drives.
Was a concussion to blame for his poor play? The Chiefs have done nothing to suggest Mahomes was concussed. The quarterback hasn’t insisted that he played hurt, either.
That response would lead you to believe that this was just a bad showing on the biggest stage. Credit Philadelphia for its defensive gameplan, which made Mahomes extremely uncomfortable.
