Commanders Vs. Vikings – Studs and Duds

Commanders Vs. Vikings – Studs and Duds
Hogs Haven Hogs Haven

One week after a valiant effort against a very good Denver Broncos team at home, Washington came out and laid an egg against the struggling Minnesota Vikings on the road.

The offense was stagnant all game as both quarterbacks looked rattled against Brian Flores’ aggressive defense. The defense, as it’s done most of the season, looked like it couldn’t stop a U10 Pop Warner football team.

The Results – a 31-0 BLOWOUT, and yet ANOTHER injury to quarterback Jayden Daniels, who just can’t seem to stay healthy. Aside from Daniels, Washington lost tight end Zach Ertz to a gruesome knee injury on what many deemed a dirty hit while he was off the ground trying to secure a Mariota pass.

Coach Quinn tried to come out after the Denver game and tell reporters – “We lost, but we’re not lost anymore”. Well, the Commanders looked EVERY BIT lost on Sunday afternoon walking off the field in Minnesota. Reports were that three of the coaches and at least 10 players couldn’t find their way into the locker room…

The Commanders are a JOKE again.

Below are my Studs and Duds, followed by a few notes.

Studs:

  • Bobby Wagner: Wagner had a team-leading 16 total tackles, one for a loss, two stuffs, two pressures and a sack. The defense played like **** but Wagner held his own.

Duds:

  • Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota: Both Washington quarterbacks were horrible on the afternoon. Daniels had a sub 50% completion percentage and continued to struggle seeing the field and getting through progressions. He continued to miss open receivers and throw inaccurately to all levels of the field. To top things off, he was injured YET AGAIN after his interception. Mariota was no better throwing a pick and losing a fumble. His pass that lead Zach Ertz into a vicious hit that likely ended his career was a pass that probably never should have been thrown.

  • Deebo Samuel: Deebo dropped a would-be touchdown in the back of the endzone on Washington’s first offensive series. He did lead the team in receptions (four) but had a paltry 27 yards to show. I HOPE he’s not re-signed next year.

  • Mike Sainristil: I don’t know what happened to Mike Sainristil but his play has severely dropped off from last year. He was a liability on the outside against Minnesota and was picked on by McCarthy all game.

  • Johnny Newton: Another game, another disappearing act from Johnny Newton. It’s official – he’s a BUST!

  • Defensive missed tackles: I have never seen a Washington team be as undiscipline and miss as many tackles as I’ve seen this season.

  • Dan Quinn: He should be the BIGGEST Dud this week for numerous reasons. First, his proclamation from last week about losing, but not being “lost”. Hey Dan – how did that work out? Your team looked more LOST that at any point of the season! Second, Jayden Daniels shouldn’t have been on...
