The Washington Commanders held their second practice of the week today as they prepare to host the Las Vegas Raiders at Northwest Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. Their last game was a rough one against the Packers in Green Bay. They had at least eight players injured during the short-week game, and three of them have already been placed on injured reserve.
RB Austin Ekeler(Achilles) and DE Deatrich Wise Jr(quad) both needed surgery and are done for the season. CB Jonathan Jones was placed on IR yesterday with a hamstring injury, but head coach Dan Quinn said he’d be back later in the year.
Jayden Daniels missed his second practice after suffering a knee sprain vs the Packers. Quinn said the earliest he would practice would be tomorrow, and he’d have to see him on the field before making a determination for his game-time status. The team will likely not announce anything until they have to, and could take the decision all the way until game day morning. Marcus Mariota is ready to step in after missing most of the offseason while dealing with Achilles tendonitis.
TE John Bates and WR Noah Brown both suffered groin injuries and they missed another practice. Dan Quinn had more hope for Bates playing, but both players aren’t trending towards being available at this point. Bates was working with trainers on the side field today, but Brown was not on the field. Rookie CB Trey Amos was the only player that was limited today. He suffered a shoulder injury vs the Packers, and has been limited since. RG Brandon Coleman(shoulder), RB Jeremy McNichols(hamstring), and TE Colson Yankoff(hip) were limited yesterday, but full go today.
