The Washington Commanders held their third, and final, practice of the week today as they prepare to host the Las Vegas Raiders at Northwest Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. Dan Quinn spoke to the media after today’s practice and gave an update on QB Jayden Daniels’ knee sprain. He wasn’t on the field when reporters were there, but he did have a limited practice today, his first since the injury happened against the Packers last Thursday. Quinn said he’s made progress, and it was good to see him on the grass, but he’s not ready to play. Marcus Mariota will get the start with Josh Johnson backing him up. Quinn wouldn’t give specifics on the injury, or give a timeline for his return to play. Marcus Mariota is ready to step in after missing most of the offseason while dealing with Achilles tendonitis.
TE John Bates and WR Noah Brown suffered groin injuries vs the Packers. They didn’t practice all week, and both have been ruled out. Quinn called both of them longshots earlier in the week, and now the offense will have to adjust to missing two more key players.
Rookie CB Trey Amos has been limited with a shoulder injury, but was a full participant today and should be good to go vs the Raiders. RG Brandon Coleman(shoulder), RB Jeremy McNichols(hamstring), and TE Colson Yankoff(hip) were all limited on Wednesday, but practiced the last two days and will play Sunday.
Their last game was a rough one against the Packers in Green Bay. They had at least eight players injured during the short-week game, and three of them have already been placed on injured reserve. RB Austin Ekeler(Achilles) and DE Deatrich Wise Jr(quad) both needed surgery and are done for the season. CB Jonathan Jones was placed on IR Wednesday with a hamstring injury, but head coach Dan Quinn said he’d be back later in the year.
