A pair of potential NFC playoff teams face each other on Thursday night as the Washington Commanders and Jayden Daniels travel to Lambeau Field on a short week to take on Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers.
Deebo Samuel had ten targets in his Commanders’ debut. He caught seven of those for 77 yards, and took a carry for 19 yards and a touchdown. Samuel will benefit from a wide-open offense and one of the most electric quarterbacks in the game.
Daniels threw for a touchdown in Week 1 and ran for 68 yards en route to a 21-6 victory. He missed a couple of deep throws to Terry McLaurin and Samuel, or else the Commanders would have scored more.
But that was against the New York Giants — who could have easily scored three times if they had a competent quarterback. Love, Josh Jacobs, and a motley crew of pass catchers pose a much bigger threat to the Commanders than the ghost of Russell Wilson and Malik Nabers.
Washington did next to nothing in the second half. I think we see that version of them. That doesn’t mean the Commanders won’t score. That’s inevitable with Daniels. But I’d expect Matt LaFleur to continue to dominate Dan Quinn.
Packers 27, Commanders 20.
