The Washington Commanders held their second practice of a shortened week as they prepare to host the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. Three players didn’t practice today as they continue to deal with injuries across the roster. DT Eddie Goldman suffered a concussion against the Giants, and is still not practicing. He’s trending towards missing his second game this season.
TE Colson Yankoff was also injured against the Giants last Sunday. He suffered a new ankle injury and hasn’t practiced all week. Yankoff has been a core special teams player, and has seen limited action on offense. The Commanders lost starter Zach Ertz for the season two weeks ago with a torn ACL. John Bates and Ben Sinnott are the only healthy TEs on the 53-man roster. They also have Lawrence Cager and recently-signed Gee Scott Jr. available to elevate from the practice squad if Yankoff can’t play vs the Eagles on Saturday.
Jayden Daniels was ruled out for the final three games, and he’s still not cleared for contact. He reaggravated the injury when he returned a month after the original elbow dislocation. Daniels isn’t going to be placed on IR, and will continue to practice on a limited basis with the team as he rehabs the injury.
LT Laremy Tunsil suffered two different injuries vs the Giants, but is only listed with the oblique injury. He didn’t practice yesterday, and got some limited work in today. Dan Quinn said he would be evaluated over the next two days to see if he’s good to go. If he doesn’t play on Saturday, expect Brandon Coleman to get his first start since losing his LG job to Chris Paul after Week 2. Coleman was Washington’s starting LT last year during his rookie season.
Drake Jackson has been cleared for contact and has been a full participant the last two days. He’s attempting to return from a patellar tendon injury from 2023, but has also been dealing with a groin injury for weeks. Jackson’s debut for the Commanders could come this week.
Starting CB Jonathan Jones (rib) and RB Chris Rodriguez Jr (groin) were both ruled out against the Giants. They were full participants again, and should be available on Saturday.
