Get ready for game day!
It’s Conference Championship day, and the Washington Commanders are up first. They are in Philadelphia to play the Eagles for the third time this season. They had a 1-1 split during the regular season, and the winner of today’s game goes to the Super Bowl to face the winner of tonight’s Buffalo Bills vs Kansas City Chiefs AFC Championship game.
The Washington Commanders finished the season with a 12-5 record and they defeated the No. 1 seed Detroit Lions last week to advance to the conference championship round for the first time since 1992. They will now face another big test when they travel to Philadelphia to face the No. 2 seed Philadelphia Eagles. This game will be outside, but it won’t be the snowy mess that helped the Eagles eliminate a hot Los Angeles Rams team last week. This is the perfect setting for a division playoff game between two teams from the Northeast.
Jayden Daniels had another great game against the Lions last week, and showed why he is the greatest rookie QB of all time. This game will be a big test for him against a very good Eagles defense led by DT Jalen Carter. He will be missing one of his best offensive linemen after Sam Cosmi tore his ACL last week. Terry McLaurin and Dyami Brown have been big targets, along with a good supporting cast in Brian Robinson Jr, Austin Ekeler, and Zach Ertz.
The Washington Commanders opened as road underdogs at +4.5, and that line is now up to +6.5. The over/under opened at 55.5, and stayed there throughout the week. Washington entered the playoffs as the 6th seed, and now look to knock off the last remaining top 3 seed from the NFC. A win today would solidify the greatest turnaround in NFL history with the 2nd-worst team going to the Super Bowl the following season. What a season!
