This entire game was ONE BIG DUD…
Washington AGAIN came out unprepared and played sloppy all afternoon. Dan Quinn’s squad was “called” for 11 penalties that resulted in 118 yards. Joe Whitt’s defense allowed a staggering 409 yards (6.6 yards per play). That same unit gave up 152 rushing yards. The secondary allowed Lamb and Pickens to combine for nine receptions, 192 yards and a touchdown. Jayden Daniels was not sharp, and he lost yet another fumble on a play he was injured on. His receivers dropped four passes. The offensive line allowed pressure all afternoon and failed to open up holes for Bill – who averaged just 2.5 yards per carry.
Overall, it was a game to forget – and yet again, it seems that Washington was another team’s “get right” game.
Below are my Studs and Duds of the game, followed by some notes.
Daron Payne: Payne has been a consistent menace through seven games, even if his teammates on that side of the ball have not played well. He finished with a team high THREE passes defended (more than any of our defensive backs) to go along with five total tackles, one for a loss, two pressures, a quarterback hit and a safety.
Tress Way: You know it’s a rough game when your punter ends up as a stud. Way punted five times for an average of 57.2 with a long of 60.
THAT’S ALL FOLKS!
Joe Whitt Jr.: His time here has come. The defense has quit on him. He continues to trot out Bobby Wagner, who can no longer play in today’s NFL as an every-down linebacker, to lead this defense. His schemes are horrible, his personnel choices are embarrassing, and his adjustments are non-existent.
Marshon Lattimore: This was an absolutely HORRIBLE trade by Adam Peters. Now is the time to move on. Trade him, cut him – WHATEVER. He just HAS to go!
Bobby Wagner: Yes, he’s a future Hall of Famer, but he can no longer be an every-down linebacker in this league. He’s a COMPLETE liability in any run outside of the B-gaps, and he can’t cover. It’s sad to see him go out this way – although I blame Whitt and Quinn.
Jayden Daniels: Jayden Daniels did not have a good game, but there is a caveat to that. He had street free agents and practice squad candidates out there running routes and timing was clearly off. His receivers also dropped four passes. Still, like I have said many times in the past – I have to call a spade a spade. Daniels was erratic with his ball placement and also lost ANOTHER fumble on a play where he injured his hamstring. Before he left the game in the third quarter, he was an unimpressive 12/22 for 156 yards and a touchdown with one fumble lost. He did have a one-yard rushing touchdown on a play where it...
