Commanders vs Chargers Wednesday Injury Report: New injuries in Week 5
Hogs Haven Hogs Haven

The Washington Commanders held the team’s first full practice as they prepare for a road game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The team will be traveling on Friday, so Dan Quinn said injury decisions would be made for Sunday’s game by tomorrow.

Jayden Daniels was medically cleared and returned for a full practice, his first since suffering a knee sprain in Week 2. He has been wearing a knee brace, and said he felt good in practice today. He expects to play against the Chargers in his home state of California.

John Bates was also back at practice today, but he was limited. He suffered a groin injury in Week 2 and hasnt played since. Bates said he expected to return to practice this week. That’s not the case for WR Noah Brown who also suffered a groin injury vs the Packers, but hasn’t practiced since Week 2’s shortened Thursday Night Football schedule.

Quinn said that Bates, Brown, and WR Terry McLaurin(quad) were trending up, but it looks like only Bates is on track to play this week. McLaurin didn’t play last week, and could miss another game due to an injury that has been described as a hip flexor. He reportedly won’t require surgery and won’t be placed on injured reserve. McLaurin is still considered week to week.

Sam Cosmi’s 21-day practice window was opened today. This gives him three weeks to get back on the active roster, or he will get shit down for the season. Cosmi tore his ACL during a divisional round playoff win over the Detroit Lions. When Cosmi returns, Washington will need to adjust their offensive line again.

There are a few new injuries on this week’s report. CB Mike Sainristil didn’t practice with a knee injury, and WR Deebo Samuel was sidelined with a heel injury. One injury we knew about was UDFA rookie S Ale Kaho is in the concussion protocol after a hard hit last week. S Percy Butler didn’t practice at all last week due to a hip injury, but he was limited today.
