The Washington Commanders are currently taking part in offseason workouts as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. The Commanders are hoping to bounce back after missing out on the playoffs altogether in 2025, resulting in head coach Dan Quinn choosing to fire both his offensive and defensive coordinators after the season.

In order to boost team morale, the Commanders recently took a unique step by bringing in a designated team dog to the facility.

TJ could play a valuable role for a Commanders team that appeared to be low on moral support last year at times, mired with injury frustrations and a general regression to the mean following their shocking run to the NFC Championship Game in 2024-25.

This year, fans will hope that the Commanders are able to stay healthier, particularly quarterback Jayden Daniels, who saw concerns about his slight frame come back to bite him with his frequent injury absences last year.

As previously mentioned, Quinn surprisingly made the decision to fire both coordinators, including OC Kliff Kingsbury, who had largely been credited as the architect for the team’s offensive revival in Daniels’ rookie season the year before. Now, those duties will fall to David Blough, their former quarterback’s coach, who will look to help them rekindle that magic this season.

Some of the Commanders’ lack of success last year was attributed to the team not getting the same late-game heroics to fall their way as they did the previous season, so perhaps the pendulum will swing back in the opposite direction in 2026.

The Commanders are set to get their new season underway on September 13 on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.
