The Washington Commanders have signed another former Seattle Seahawk.

The team announced the signing of offensive tackle George Fant on Tuesday. Fant started his career in Seattle as an undrafted free agent. He started his career transitioning to the offensive line after playing basketball in college, and one year of tight end for Western Kentucky.

Fant learned quickly and made the 53-man roster for Seattle. Fant went on to start 24 games for the Seahawks between 2016 and 2019. After his successful career in Seattle, Fant went on to play three years with the New York Jets (2020-2022), and one year with the Houston Texans (2023) before returning to Seattle last year.

Despite an injury plagued 2024 season, the Washington Commanders felt the veteran had enough in the tank to add to their offensive tackle room. The Commanders currently have Laremy Tunsil, Andrew Wylie, and Josh Conerly as sure locks on the 53-man roster, with a few other veterans that Fant will have to compete with for a roster spot.

With Fant signing in Washington, the Commanders now have six former Seahawks on their roster (Fant, Bobby Wagner, Nick Bellore, Jacob Martin, Tyler Ott, and 2025 offseason signing River Cracraft). On top of this, the Commanders have many former Seahawks coaches (head coach Dan Quinn, Larry Izzo, Brian Schneider, and Ken Norton Jr.), plus former Seahawks players Bobby Engram and Darryl Tapp are assistants, while former Seahawks receiver Paul Skansi is a Commanders scout.

With all this familiarity between the Seahawks and Commanders, it will surely be a fun get together on November 2nd when the Seahawks travel to Landover for Sunday Night Football.
