The NFL world got some shocking news on Wednesday night when Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested for kidnapping and armed robbery charges. Arnold is facing up to life in prison if convicted, leaving his football future in serious doubt. He has denied all allegations through a statement from his camp.

Since the stunning news was reported, opinions have been flying all over social media and all around the NFL. On Thursday, Indianapolis Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner defended Arnold’s character on social media.

“Terrion Arnold is a good kid and this situation shouldn’t define him,” Gardner wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “He’s young…His daughter just got brought into the world. What his daughter gon’ do without her dad in her life? Me knowing how much of a good/caring person he is makes it hard to believe because he’s not the type of person to do these things y’all are reading about.”

Arnold has been accused of helping orchestrate an attack on four victims where he and others robbed them at gunpoint back in February.

The former first-round pick was slated to enter his third season in the NFL as one of the more intriguing young corners in the NFL. He played in 16 games as a rookie and finished with 10 pass breakups, but he took a step back during his second season.

Arnold was held to just eight games in 2025 due to injury, finishing with one interception and eight PBUs. He has been plagued by penalties during his career, and that has been flagged as an area he must improve.

Of course, all of that is background noise for at least the rest of the offseason and maybe longer as we await a final decision on this case and on Arnold’s status for the 2026 season and beyond. At the moment, it feels as if there is a real chance that the former Alabama star’s NFL career is over before it even really got started. Despite that, he clearly still has some people, such as Gardner and others, firmly in his corner.
