Stampede Blue
With the heat rising, and Indianapolis Colts training camp still a few weeks away, we’re still firmly in the ‘dog days’ of the summer.
That being said, there is always Colts related content to discuss, if you look hard enough.
One thing that I wanted to bring to the forefront is the question of “Who the most improved player for the Colts will be throughout the upcoming 2026 campaign?”
I threw out a number of intriguing, ascending young Colts players that could be poised for a potential breakout, including Laiatu Latu, Tyler Warren, Alec Pierce, Jalen Travis, and of course, “Other.” If given another name, I would’ve also added Tanor Bortolini here, but sometimes, you have to shoot off the cuff.
34% of Colts fans believe such an honor will go to 3rd-year pass rusher Laiatu Latu, who nearly reached double-digit sacks with 8.5 total sacks in 2025, to go along with a forced fumble, 61 total QB pressures and a surprising 3 interceptions. Per PFF (subscription), Latu was their 9th best graded this past year with a +84.1 overall grade.
Some of that career breakout arguably has already happened.
However, as the lone returning starter at defensive end, and another year in veteran defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo’s defense, the Colts will be counting on Latu to take another step forward and anchor their edge rush.
Many Colts fans believe that the former 2024 first round pick is ready for another big time breakout!
