Early in the third quarter in Berlin, Germany, Indianapolis Colts starting nose tackle Grover Stewart collided with Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier and is now being evaluated for a concussion.
Stewart was down on the field for a bit before heading to the Colts’ sideline medical tent.
Not only is Stewart’s potential absence a big loss for the Colts run defense stopping Falcons Pro Bowl running back Bijan Robinson, as their unit’s undisputed top run stuffer, but the interior Indianapolis defensive line is already without All-Pro veteran defensive tackle DeForest Buckner—meaning they could very likely be without one of the best DT duos in all of football for the rest of Sunday’s international game.
The Colts are increasingly short-handed on their defensive line, so it should be a trio of Neville Gallimore and Eric Johnson II handling the primary interior run-stopping work with Ade Adebawore handling more pass rushing duties—with perhaps rookie JT Tuimoloau also getting some interior pass rushing opportunities.
