The Indianapolis Colts announced on Thursday that the team has signed former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Keenan Garber for their once vacant practice squad opening:
The 6’0”, 188 pound undrafted free agent rookie cornerback out of Kansas State joined the Minnesota Vikings this past offseason before being released at the end of their training camp.
“Collegiately, he played in 59 career games (17 starts at cornerback) at Kansas State (2019-24) and compiled 52 tackles (46 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, 11 passes defensed and two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown). Garber began his career with the Wildcats as a wide receiver and totaled six receptions for 82 yards (13.7 avg.) and three carries for six yards (2.0 avg.).”
The Colts had a practice squad opening after promoting safety Trey Washington to the 53-man active roster after veteran cornerback Xavien Howard abruptly retired on Wednesday.
Garber should help bolster the backend of the Colts cornerback depth, if actually called upon.
