The Indianapolis Colts announced their Week 15 inactives for this Sunday’s road game (4:25 PM EST) against the Seattle Seahawks—with maybe one minor surprise:
Interesting enough, Colts linebacker Jaylon Carlies, who was reinstated from injured reserve last week—and did appear in the game down in Jacksonville, is a healthy scratch—having not appeared on this week’s injury report with an injured ankle anymore.
Instead, it looks as though veteran safety George Odum will be available for special teams work again. The former 2x NFL All-Pro special teams gunner was a healthy scratch last weekend in Jacksonville.
Meanwhile, running back D.J. Giddens, safety Reuben Lowery III, and tight end Will Mallory have consistently been healthy inactives for a while now. It does look as though back offensive tackle Luke Tenuta is active though, with starting right tackle Braden Smith (concussion/neck) having recently been placed on injured reserve.
Otherwise, starting cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf) and wideout [special teams returnman] Anthony Gould were ruled out to begin the weekend. The Colts promoted wideout Coleman Owen from the practice squad on Saturday, presumably to help replace Gould on special teams.
Lastly, Brett Rypien will serve as the emergency QB3, so even though he’s initially inactive, he may enter the game if the two quarterbacks ahead of him (here, Philip Rivers and Riley Leonard) are either injured or disqualified. Should either return to the field, Rypien would then be forced to leave the game.
The Colts have to hope that their active group can be road warriors and scrap a tough win out in Seattle.
