The Colts have added a former CFL standout to their wide receiver room for this offseason’s activities—and who knows, maybe even longer.
On Friday, the Indianapolis Colts announced the signing of former CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders wideout Ajou Ajou to a reserve/future contract.
Via Colts.com:
“Ajou, 6-3, 218 pounds, played in 12 games for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League in 2024 and compiled 20 receptions for 307 yards and two touchdowns. He was selected by the Roughriders in the seventh round (59th overall) of the 2024 CFL Draft. Collegiately, Ajou saw action in seven games in one season (2023) at Garden City (Kan.) Community College and tallied 17 receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns. In 2022, he appeared in one game at South Florida and caught two passes for nine yards. Prior to South Florida, Ajou played in 22 games at Clemson (2020-21) and caught eight passes for 114 yards and one touchdown. His name is pronounced uh-JOE.”
As a wide receiver prospect, Ajou had a RAS of 5.28 out of 10.0 coming out of Clemson.
Here’s what else they’re saying on the young wideout from just North of the border:
While they currently lack a superstar atop, the Colts have a pretty deep wide receiver room right now with Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, AD Mitchell, and Josh Downs already in the fold. That being said, there’s always the opportunity to stick lower on the depth chart, particularly if a backup like Ajou is able to make his mark significantly on special teams.
We’ll see what happens, as Ajou should be given a shot in training camp and the preseason to earn his way onto the Colts’ active 53-man roster or even their practice squad.
