The Colts could be getting back one of their young, fairly promising cornerbacks for an extended look to close out the 2024 season—if he can return to game days.

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Wednesday that 2nd-year cornerback JuJu Brents has been designated to return to practice on injured reserve:

Having been limited to just 9 games as a rookie (including quadriceps and hamstring injuries), the former Colts’ 2023 2nd round pick appeared in just 1 game for Indianapolis this season before being placed on injured reserve with a significant knee injury.

During that lone start, Brents had 7 tackles (3 solo).

Brents now has 3 weeks to be activated off injured reserve, or well, his season will be over.

However, this in encouraging because he’s at least been medically cleared to return to practice and can once again practice with his Colts teammates to get in-game ready.

That being said, Brents appears to be on the outside, looking in to regain a starting cornerback spot this season, as both 2nd-year cornerback Jaylon Jones and 49ers castoff Samuel Womack III have played reasonably well on the outside in his absence.
