One of college football’s top quarterbacks has drawn a comparison to Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger.
It’s no secret the Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to land their next franchise quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. According for ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky, they may just have the chance to land the next coming of Ben Roethlisberger.
Orlovsky shared that South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers reminds him of Big Ben, and maybe even more athletic.
“He is Big Ben, but faster,” Orlovsky said. “He’s 6-foot-3, 235 pounds. A tremendous athlete, but the ability that he has shown to throw the ball downfield has grown. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in football.”
There are several comparisons between the two players. Roethlisberger was also a bigger-bodied quarterback, standing at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds during his 18-year NFL career. They both also have big arms and are difficult to bring down.
Sellers displayed just that against Virginia Tech last weekend while throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 25 yards and another score.

If Sellers can continue to stack similar performances throughout the 2025 season, there is no doubt he will establish himself as one of the best quarterbacks in college football and a first-round selection in next year’s draft.
The only question is: Will he raise his draft stock too much, putting him out of reach of the Steelers?
Only time will tell that, but Sellers is off to a hot start following his promising 2024 campaign, during which he threw for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 674 yards and seven more scores.
A native of Florence, South Carolina, Sellers was ranked No. 4 prospect in the state, the 16th-best quarterback in the country coming out of high school. He originally committed to play college football at the University of Virginia and then Syracuse University before finally committing to and signing with the University of South Carolina.
