College football players to watch- NCAA Week 9
Canal Street Chronicles Canal Street Chronicles

Another college football slate is on the horizon for us fans. Committees are beginning to whittle down lists of potential award winners and are sorting out bowl matchup possibilities. We’re one week closer to some players taking the next step in their football careers, and these are the guys I will be watching closely this Saturday.

Harold Perkins

LSU’s Harold Perkins is consistently projected as a top linebacker for the upcoming NFL Draft. Not only is the 6’1” speedster talented with space in the open field, but he is an elite edge rusher who is disruptive to any quarterback’s pocket. Perkins will have an opportunity to shine as his Tigers host the #3 Texas A&M Aggies.

CJ Daniels

The wideout from Miami is second on the roster in receiving yards and has five touchdowns on the year. Daniels is a threat to go the distance anytime he’s got the ball in his hands. He is averaging more than 11 yards per reception and would provide the consistent type of offense that the New Orleans Saints lack in the receiving game.

Cayden Green

Cayden Green looms large as a 6’5”, 325lb offensive lineman. As New Orleans continues to have misfortune with linemen, especially the interior positions, the Missouri Tiger could be a potential target for the Saints in the upcoming draft. Fans should get a good look at the O-line work in a Top-15 matchup between Mizzou and Vanderbilt this weekend.

What are some other names you’re keeping an eye on throughout the back half of the season? Are there any players in particular that you’re hoping to see in a Saints’ uniform in 2026? Let us hear it in the comments!
