The Cleveland Browns are setting the stage for a four-way quarterback battle, with Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, Joe Flacco, and Shedeur Sanders all in the mix.
Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reported this week that the team will run two passing camps during team activities into mandatory minicamp and possibly into training camp.
Per Cabot, the drills will likely be divided into Pickett and Gabriel Nos. 1 and 2, and Flacco and Sanders Nos. 3 and 4.

The plan pairs one rookie with one veteran. The team drills will certainly impact the quarterback battle, as the Browns hope to have a clearer depth chart before training camp and preseason games begin.
The competition is wide open, meaning both rookie quarterbacks in Gabriel and Sanders could earn the starting job in Cleveland.
As we all know, Shedeur Sanders has grabbed headlines and unprecedented attention despite being a fifth-round draft pick.
Regarding Flacco and Sanders sharing the third and fourth reps, Sanders may occasionally take the first reps, but Flacco’s 17 years of NFL experience, per Cabot, give him a firm grasp of the system.
The Browns open their season on Sept. 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Shedeur Sanders has signed his NFL rookie contract. The team announced Monday that he inked a four-year deal with the Cleveland Browns.
His deal is worth $4.6 million and includes a $447,380 signing bonus.
According to On3, his total $4.6 million rookie contract is less than his reported name, image, and likeness valuation while at Colorado.
Signing the deal ensures that Sanders will compete for a roster spot and potentially a starting position on a Browns team that has several quarterbacks on the depth chart.
