Devin Bush was arrested earlier this year after his girlfriend alleged he assaulted her. The Cleveland Browns linebacker and 2019 first-round pick was arrested for harassment and simple assault.
He had a dispute with his girlfriend over mashed potatoes. Bush Jr. was accused of injuring Shkurte Leka after she began filming their argument. The argument started over how Bush was transferring mashed potatoes into a container.
Shkurte Leka would testify that Devin Bush chased her through the home. He then allegedly pinned her to a massage table. Bush was attempting to wrestle the cellphone from her hands, per Trib. As a result, she suffered cuts and abrasions to her right wrist and a toe.
Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush had a very different story from his girlfriend’s. He claims he was trying to leave his home as a fight escalated. According to Bush, there was no physical contact between them.
He did, however, admit to smashing Leka’s phone.
Bush had initially been scheduled to stand trial on December 2. However, proceedings were postponed until December 16.
In the end, an Allegheny County Common Pleas judge would rule in his favor. Bush was found not guilty of simple assault or harassment. The judge said prosecutors failed to prove he intended to harm or injure Leka.
Leka is the mother of the couple’s 3-year-old daughter.
The ruling now closes a chapter that unfolded away from the field. It now allows him to move forward without pending criminal charges hanging over his professional career.
Devin Bush currently ranks second on the Browns this season with 93 combined tackles. He also has two sacks and one forced fumble. Bush also has two interceptions. This is the best season he’s had since his rookie campaign.
