On Friday, former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders reported for the Cleveland Browns rookie mini camp.

Sanders and Oregon Ducks’ Dillon Gabriel were each rookie quarterbacks that the Browns selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Gabriel, of course, was taken before him.

Both players are currently trying to impress the Browns coaching staff to the point where a change will need to be made in the depth chart. Gabriel and Sanders got their reps in the rookie minicamp and will join Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett in the offseason program.

An insider’s perspective from the Cleveland Browns’ Rookie Minicamp is now revealing which player has been better.

Browns reporter, Zac Jackson, has made it clear that Sanders has been the better quarterback of the two.

“It’s not close….Shedeur Sanders.”

A Browns reporter who was present at minicamp was asked who was better between the 2 quarterbacks:

Sanders is coming off a season with Colorado in 2024 in which he threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while winning the Big 12 offensive player of the year. With the Oregon Ducks in 2024, Gabriel threw for 3,857 yards, 30 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

2026 Could Be A Huge Year For Shedeur Sanders

Cleveland selected Gabriel in the third round before trading up to draft Sanders in the fifth round, inevitably pitting the two rookie quarterbacks against each other.

Cleveland also has veteran quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett on its roster. Both are not guaranteed to return past the 2025 season since they essentially have one-year deals.

The team also seems to be done with Deshaun Watson, who might not play in 2025.

That bodes well for Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in 2026 and could possibly see one of them starting for the team.
