Shedeur Sanders’ two speeding tickets do not put him at risk of losing his job with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced.

Yesterday, reports stated that Shedeur Sanders received a ticket on Tuesday morning (just before 12:30 a.m.) for driving 101 MPH in a zone with a 60 MPH speed limit. Then on Thursday, Alex Darus of Cleveland.com reported that Sanders received a separate speeding ticket two weeks earlier on June 5.

Per Darus, Sanders got the ticket just after 5:00 p.m. for driving 91 MPH in a zone with a speed limit of 65 MPH. Sanders had to pay a total of $249 in fines and court costs, Darus noted.

Darus contacted the Browns for comment, and team spokesman Peter John-Baptiste emphasized that Sanders won’t receive discipline from the team, as the two parties have already discussed the matter.

“He is taking care of the tickets,” John-Baptiste said.

In Ohio, a driver can have their license suspended for six months if they rack up 12 penalty points. Shedeur Sanders received six in a 12-day span, so the rookie better be more cautious on the road.

Browns Drafted Shedeur Sanders 144th Overall

Sanders was widely expected to be a top-10 pick, with some projecting him to go as high as third overall to the New York Giants. But in one of the most stunning NFL draft slides ever, Sanders didn’t even go until round five at No. 144 overall.

The 23-year-old was the consensus No. 2 quarterback of the 2025 class, behind eventual first overall pick Cam Ward. But five quarterbacks were taken before Sanders, including teammate Dillon Gabriel in round three.

Sanders is competing with Gabriel, 40-year-old journeyman Joe Flacco and trade acquisition Kenny Pickett for the starting QB job. Flacco is presumably the early front-runner, given his experience and familiarity with head coach Kevin Stefanski.
