Last time the Cleveland Browns hired a new head coach, they made Kevin Stefanski one of the NFL’s youngest head coaches in the NFL at just 37 years old. Now, they could be looking to hire their youngest head coach in franchise history.
While the Browns have been assembling a long list of head coaching candidates to replace Stefanski, their latest addition to the list is a pretty notable one. Especially because he only recently became available to hire.
On Monday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed that the Browns put in a request to interview Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski. With the Jaguars officially eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday, Udinski’s schedule just cleared up.
The first-year coordinator has generated rave reviews for helping the Jaguars go from a four-win team ranked 26th in scoring to one that won 13 games and ranked sixth in points. Of course, head coach Liam Coen had a lot to do with Jacksonvillle’s success too.
Still, even Trevor Lawrence, who’s coming off the best season of the No. 1 overall pick’s NFL career, has been effusive in his praise for coach Udinski.
Udinski, who just turned 30 on January 12, would be the youngest NFL head coach in league history, surpassing Sean McVay by 11 months. Prior to being promoted to OC of the Jaguars, Udinski spent time on Kevin O’Connell’s staff with the Minnesota Vikings from 2022 to 2024, where he added more responsibility each season.
Now, he could be in line to be an NFL head coach, just seven years after he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Baylor.
