The Cleveland Browns will be No. 2 on the clock when the NFL Draft begins this April. Most believe they’ll take a quarterback with that first-round selection.

Which passer that could be remains unclear. Either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders will be there when Cleveland makes its choice. Noise surrounding Jaxson Dart has created speculation regarding the team’s plan, though.

The Browns have options when it comes to draft outlook. They could take the obvious choice in selecting one of the two top passers on most NFL boards. They could trade down and go another route.

Either way, they need QB help given the failed Deshaun Watson project that’s been seen over the last three seasons. The Titans will likely choose a signal caller at No. 1. After that, the Browns will make their decision.

Fans have pleaded for Shedeur Sanders to be the choice. In fact, a group of Cleveland supporters was seen blasting his “Perfect Timing” single outside of Huntington Bank Stadium this week while protesting amid Myles Garrett’s trade request.

Those wishes could all but be granted in April. With that being said, recent commentary from Browns coaches and executives seems to have given Jaxson Dart a boost.

The Ole Miss passer wrapped up a productive career at Ole Miss before showing out at the Senior Bowl in Mobile. His coach during the event was Cleveland special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone.

Ventrone was complimentary in his assessment of Dart. He says the quarterback oozed confidence and backed it up on the field.

“Dart’s got a little bit of swagger to him. A lot of confidence. He’s an instinctive player. I like the way he carries himself… Jaxson specifically has an innate ability to make plays and push the ball downfield.”

-Bubba Ventrone

General Manager Andrew Berry echoed that sentiment when giving his opinion on the potential Day 1 pick. It’s led many to believe Dart is higher on the Browns’ board than others.

“In terms of Jaxson, he’s a high-level processor. Really good anticipation. He’s accurate. He really pounds the middle of the field, like that’s really his game, and he probably has some understated mobility. “

-Andrew Berry

While that may be true, not everyone is sold on the passer as a first-round talent. A pair of AFC rivals reportedly doubt Dart’s outlook heading into the draft.

One AFC scout told me that his grade is “nowhere near the first two rounds for us.” Another AFC scout, in response to the Dart hype, gave a NSFW answer.”

-Cory Kinnan / Daft on Draft

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler received similar response when speaking with an NFC scout who told him the Dart hype was “misguided.” He also referenced Ole Miss’s offensive system as being “a mess” for incoming QBs, suggesting it doesn’t translate well to the NFL.

For now, Jaxson Dart’s draft outlook is all over...
