The Cleveland Browns have a serious wide receiver problem. And that’s not a good sign. It’s the kind that keeps quarterbacks up at night and defenses laughing on Sundays. No matter who lines up under center this season, they’re going to need someone reliable to throw to. Right now, that guy simply doesn’t exist on the Browns’ roster.

But what if the answer is stuck in Green Bay’s crowded wide receiver room? That’s exactly what Newsweek suggested when it gave a valid trade idea that is to send Romeo Doubs to Cleveland.

It’s not just a speculation. It actually makes a lot of sense. The Packers have too many to give. And the Browns? They’re in need.

Doubs Could Be WR1 In Cleveland

Green Bay’s depth at wide receiver is turning into a luxury they may not need. They’ve got Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and rookies like Matthew Golden and Savion Williams. Oh, and Mecole Hardman’s in camp too. That leaves Doubs, who’s in a contract year, as the odd man out.

As Newsweek’s Evan Massey put it, “Moving on from one wide receiver seems likely. Doubs could be the odd man out.”

If the Browns make a move, they won’t just be getting a guy buried on a depth chart. They’d be landing a player who scored eight touchdowns last season and posted 601 receiving yards. That’s not just useful, that’s potentially WR1 material in Cleveland. Given how thin the Browns’ receiver group looks right now, Doubs could immediately become the go-to target.

Nick Halden of FanSided even suggested that Green Bay may put Doubs on the trade block in August. “Doubs carries enough trade value to garner a noteworthy return,” he wrote, pointing out that the Packers need every edge they can get in a division with the Lions and Vikings.

Still, Doubs isn’t just trade bait. Packers coach Matt LaFleur praised him recently for stepping up as a leader, saying, “I was just about to start talking and then Romeo Doubs grabbed him and started talking to him,” referring to Doubs mentoring rookie Matthew Golden.

The Browns could use a guy like that. A veteran with production and leadership chops. Sure, Doubs has had some drama in Green Bay, but Cleveland knows how to handle a little noise if it comes with results.

This trade wouldn’t just fill a gap. It could fix a flaw. And if the Packers are truly open to dealing him for draft capital, Andrew Berry and the Browns front office should pick up the phone before someone else does.
