Cleveland Browns Force Shedeur Sanders To Crash Division-III College Football Practice

Shedeur Sanders is helping Baldwin Wallace University prepare for its upcoming college football game against Division-III powerhouse Mount Union. Or, maybe, the Yellow Jackets are helping the Cleveland Browns quarterback to prepare for the Detroit Lions.

He needs to get reps somehow!

Some NFL fans are going to clown on the most famous third-string quarterback of all-time for being reduced to post-practice throwing sessions with a D3 football team. However, it is not uncommon and you have to respect the hustle.

Shedeur Sanders wants to play!

The Cleveland Browns are terrible, again. They are (probably) not going to make the playoffs.

40-year-old Joe Flacco looks like he is 40 years old. Dillon Gabriel looks miserable on the sideline waiting for his opportunity to get in the game.

And then there is the emergency third-string quarterback.

Shedeur Sanders made the Browns’ final 53-player roster after training camp but he did not make the club’s 48-player gameday active list for any of the first three games of the season. That trend will continue until head coach Kevin Stefanski decides to shake things up at the most important position.

Although Sanders cannot just get in the game, he is technically available. It would require legitimate injuries to both Flacco and Gabriel.

Per NFL rules, “An Emergency Third Quarterback is permitted to enter a game only if the club’s two active quarterbacks are unable to play either by disqualification or injury, including for example, if QB1 is unable to play and QB2 is being evaluated for an injury.”

Otherwise, all he can do is sit and wait, which is something he does not want to do.

Sanders recently told the media that he is ready to play right now if Cleveland put him in the game. The 23-year-old fifth-round pick also claimed to be better than some of the other starting quarterbacks in the NFL while serving as the third-string quarterback on one of the worst teams in the league.

Baldwin Wallace is preparing for Mount Union.

Shedeur Sanders does not get many reps, if any, during practice as the third-string quarterback. Certainly during the team period.

Flacco gets the majority. Gabriel gets the rest. Sanders gets anything that might be leftover.

As a result, he has to work twice as hard to stay ready— like he says he is.

While Flacco and Gabriel get to go home after Browns practice, Sanders is just getting started. He has to get reps in.

Baldwin Wallace University is located less than two miles from Cleveland’s training facility in Berea, Ohio. The Yellow Jackets allowed him to come throw with their receivers after practice earlier this week.

Baldwin Wallace is a Division-III college football program. It started the year undefeated at 3-0 and will play a massive home game against No. 2 Mount Union on Saturday.

Not only did Sanders get to throw, the Yellow Jackets got more touches. It’s a win-win.
