Dawgs By Nature
During the season, Cleveland Browns fans vote in SB Nation Reacts to express their confidence level in the team or their thoughts on other topics.
The Browns had their best game of the season last week in a 31-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Cleveland finally shook the “haven’t scored more than 17 points” monkey off their back, but it did require generating four turnovers, two of which were basically defensive touchdowns, to get there. The offense didn’t make mistakes, but fans aren’t fooling themselves with thinking that side of the ball has turned a corner. Nonetheless, with a 2-5 record, fan confidence increased by 28 percentage points this week up to 41%. Our opponents this week, the New England Patriots, have 98% confidence from their fanbase in the direction of their team.
We asked two other questions to fans this week, the first of which asked what fans thought about the Browns blowing out the Dolphins. Only 41% think it could be the sign of a turnaround, while the remaining 59% acknowledge that it’s more likely a blind squirrel finding a nut — every so often, anyone is bound to have a good game, but not enough has changed offensively to warrant getting hopes up. Nonetheless, it may have bought some time for head coach Kevin Stefanski retaining his job.
Our other question asked what fans expect the outcome of this week’s Browns vs. Patriots game to be. 70% of fans are taking the Patriots to win, while 30% are banking on the Browns continuing their momentum.
