Dawgs By Nature
During the offseason, Cleveland Browns fans vote in SB Nation Reacts to express their confidence level in the team or their thoughts on other topics.
The Browns are coming off a season-ending victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. However, fan confidence decreased by 26 percentage points down to 21%. There’s a mix of reasons why the drop may have happened — you have the team firing head coach Kevin Stefanski, which creates some uncertainty for the future direction of the team. You have Shedeur Sanders not getting to look very sharp as the season came to a close. Even though Myles Garrett getting the sack record was a feel-good moment, the Browns dropped to No. 6 in the 2026 NFL Draft with their two meaningless wins at the end of the season.
Speaking of Garrett, currently on FanDuel for their NFL Awards, they don’t even have AP Defensive Player of the Year on the board. I believe that’s because it’s believed Garrett will get the award with 100% certainty. One Brown represented is Carson Schwesinger for AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, though.
On a national poll, fans were asked what the best NFL head coaching job currently available was. Note: I believe this poll took place prior to the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins jobs becoming available. Either way, the point is that fans nationally don’t view the Browns’ job as being very enticing.
We asked two other questions this week, starting with whether fans supported the organization firing Kevin Stefanski, but keeping Andrew Berry as general manager. 51% of fans think that Berry should have gotten fired too, while 26% of fans agree with the decision to keep some degree of stability. 23% of fans would have retained Stefanski as head coach too.
We also asked what type of background Browns fans want their next head coach to have: an offensive or a defensive background. Obviously, there are a lot more nuances to this question. 86% of fans voted offensive, but if it came down to an internal promotion of promoting Tommy Rees or Jim Schwartz, I’d venture to guess that Schwartz would get the higher vote.
