The Cleveland Browns are still searching for their starting quarterback for Week 1 of the NFL season, which kicks off in September, but if it were up to Browns fans, it would be Shedeur Sanders.
The Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback is embroiled in a four-way competition for the starting job in the 2025 season, and it sounds like he has a strong chance to win the role.
Sanders surprisingly fell to the fifth round of the 2025 draft before the Browns selected him. Gabriel was selected two rounds ahead of him in the third round.
On Wednesday, fans became even more excited about Shedeur Sanders after a single clip showed him hitting Kaden Davis in 11 on 11s for a touchdown.

That was more than enough for Browns fans to want to give him the starting quarterback job.
“Give him the keys now. Don’t even continue to waste time,” one fan said.

“threw it only where the WR could get, and it was layered over that linebacker who tried to deflect it too. Flacco thru a pick yesterday mmm 😂,” another fan said of Shedeur Sanders.

Shedeur Sanders might’ve tumbled down the draft board, but he could be flying up the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback depth chart.
The former Colorado quarterback’s draft slide ended when the Browns selected him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the 144th overall pick.
Despite his slide, Sanders is in camp with the Browns. On a team without a clear starting quarterback atop the depth chart, that means it’s a wide-open competition.
During Wednesday’s episode of Get Up, ESPN’s Kimberley A. Martin reported that sources told her that Sanders “has a path” toward being the Browns’ starting quarterback over veteran Joe Flacco, backup Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
