The NFL trade deadline arrives on Tuesday, and some members of a 2-6 Cleveland Browns team don’t know what to expect. Browns trade rumors are picking up, and chances are they’ll be sellers before the deadline passes.
We’ve already seen what type of impact Brown general manager Andrew Berry’s latest draft class has. What could Cleveland’s roster look like next season if they sell off a few parts and collect even more draft capital? Remember, the Browns already own the Jaguars’ 2026 first-round pick thanks to the Travis Hunter trade.
But who would the Browns trade? The Athletic’s Browns insider Zac Jackson may have the scoop that everyone’s looking for.
Jackson expects the Browns to trade backup running back Jerome Ford, who has been supplanted by Quinshon Judkins. He also anticipates the Browns shopping one-time Pro Bowl tight end David Njoku, who has also been supplanted by rookie Harold Fannin Jr.
Both seem like strong candidates to be traded before Tuesday as they’re each on expiring contracts and may not have a big future in Cleveland.
While Ford couldn’t carve out a starting role in Cleveland, other teams will surely covet his speed, viewing him as a potential home-run threat out of the backfield.
Meanwhile, Njoku has proved himself to be a more than capable blocker and pass-catcher. Teams in search of tight end upgrades could certainly do a lot worse than the 29-year-old upcoming free agent.
