Taylor Swift fans are some of the last people you want smoke with based on the lengths they’ll go to in an attempt to defend their queen—a lesson CJ Gardner-Johnson (and his mom) learned after he took a shot at her in the wake of the Super Bowl. However, he made it very clear he’s not backing down with the sweatshirt he wore to the championship parade.
It’s been close to two years since Chiefs Kingdom welcomed a new fan in the form of Taylor Swift, who has become one of the team’s most visible fans (and firmly its most famous) since she started dating Travis Kelce in 2023.
Plenty of NFL fans have gotten tired of the amount of attention devoted to that incredibly high-profile relationship, and there are more than a few players who aren’t shy about dragging the musical superstar into the fray when they’re in the mood to drum up some drama.
That’s exactly what CJ Gardner-Johnson did after the Eagles beat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX when he opted on Instagram to take a pretty out-of-pocket shot at Kelce and his significant other while referencing the woman he was seeing before he and T-Swift became the biggest item on the planet.
It didn’t take long for Swifties to mobilize in response by flooding the restaurant Garnder-Johnson’s mother owns in Florida with negative reviews, and if you thought that would mark the end of the feud, you were decidedly incorrect based on the route the safety opted to go when he showed up for the Super Bowl parade in Philadelphia on Friday.
Gardner-Johnson went out of his way to obtain a new sweatshirt he presumably had someone whip up for the occasion to let Swifties know how he feels about them and, well, it’s safe to say he could not care less about their opinion.
